QUEZON CITY - The Water Resources Utilization Section (WRUS) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources –National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) conducted a 3-day learning event on November 8-10, 2016 for officers involved in the preparation of groundwater resources inventory for the region.
 
The first two days was devoted to acquainting the participants with Geographic Information System (GIS) and online resource maps for users.  Ms. Rosalyn D. Sontillanosa, Information Systems Analyst III discussed the latest advancements on GIS while Mr. Melvin Ong, Computer Programmer (inset top photo), explained how the Geoportal site of National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) works.  Both officers are from the Geospatial Database Management Division of NAMRIA. 
   
On the third day, WRUS Chief Carmen Hizelle Velasco made a full run down of her office’s accomplishments on the inventory of groundwater resources of NCR while Mr. Gino Mangusin (inset bottom photo), Engineer IV, Head of Operations and Monitoring of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) gave a critical but positive appraisal on the performance of the WRUS.
