DENR-NCR renews Toka-Toka partnership with Manila Water, Inc.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) and Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) renewed on Monday, 17 October 2016, their advocacy partnership on responsible management of used water.
Regional Director Lourdes C. Wagan led DENR-NCR officials in the signing of the Toka-Toka Partnership Seal while Mr. N. Eric T. Sevilla, Jr., Head for Corporate Strategic Affairs Group and Corporate Communications, led the MWCI delegation.
The partnership between DENR-NCR and MWCI began in 2013 through the former’s Manila Bay Site Coordinating and Management Office (MBSCMO). Under the original agreement, DENR-NCR and MWCI were able to accomplish the following projects:
1.Donation of segragation bins to selected barangays.
2.Tree Planting cum Lakbayan at La Mesa Watershed; and,
3.Rehabilitation of Maytunas Creek through the Lingap Sapa program.
Under the newly signed agreement, DENR-NCR and MWCI intends to intensify the partnership through joint conduct of IEC workshops for barangay officials, residents, and local organizations, as well as in co-promotion of related programs/projects in the respective websites/social media pages of both organizations.
For its part, DENR-NCR commits to support the environmental programs of MWCI and provide relevant information materials, resource persons, seedlings and technical assistance to the Toka-Toka program.
MWCI, on the other hand, commits to donate two (2) Recyling Carts and five (5) sets of Trash Bins to DENR-NCR. Likewise, they also pledge to accommodate as many participants as possible from DENR-NCR’s partner organizations in the conduct Toka Toka Lakbayan, an educational field trip to the water and used water treatment facilities of MWCI.
DENR-NCR and MWCI remains hopeful that the partnership will have a positive effect and impact on the future of our water resources.
